A way to remove tattoos is by diathermy current in combination with a herbal based gel . This is an invasive treatment the same as having the tattoo done in the first place but the results are very good.  It safely removes all colours with approximately 6-8 treatments and no scarring.

Other options consist of laser treatments that are expensive and have poor results on some colours.  Generally black and blue can be faded, but red and green are harder to fade.  A lot of treatments are needed to make a big difference.

Surgical removal is possible, but this will always leave a scar.  The extent of the scar depends on the skill of the surgeon and your healing ability.
