About 7 years ago, Linda was invited to visit medical facilities in Malta,
with a view to sending patients for dental treatment, cosmetic surgery and
other surgery, so that Malta could benefit from the Medical Tourism boom
taking place at that time. As the market leader in the UK, her company attracted thousands of patients looking for options, this is why she
was invited. Linda has helped many countries to get established in the medical tourism industry, because of her knowledge and experience in
the field.

She had never visited Malta before and was struck by the sincerity and
kindness of the people she met. It was a very enlightening trip
and everyone wanted the project to work.
The Malta Times wrote about Linda in the Pink Magazine, and If you click
on the picture, you will be able to read the story.
Unfortunately, the prices were not so competitive and the procedures
available were limited, so it was difficult to get many patients to travel to Malta for treatment and the project ground to a halt, except for a
few dentists who are still managing to attract foreign patients.
|
As a consequence of the story in Pink, many Maltese people contacted Linda
to find out more about modern techniques or just for advice about having
surgery. Having kept in touch with many of them, the thing that was
most noticeable, Maltese people are not prepared to travel outside Malta
for surgery. About 75% of UK residents will travel anywhere for surgery or dentistry if they can save money, but this is not so for the
Maltese.
The recession came and the demand for cosmetic surgery dropped off
drastically, but as we started to emerge from the economic crisis, Malta
was still in Linda's thoughts. In 2012 she decided that if the Maltese would not travel to one of our clinics in other counties, then Linda
Briggs Ltd, would have to open in Malta!
Negotiations started with St James Hospital, to hire the medical
facilities needed and talks began with partner hotels to accommodate the
foreign tourists. Registering chosen surgeons with the Medical Council was not quick and simple, but with any project, nothing goes
smoothly! Linda had many meetings with many politicians in
the government, old and new and with MTA, to see how Malta can benefit
from this untapped market,

The Malta Times reported
after the first surgeon started operating in Malta. We have two surgeons from Paris registered to work in Malta and a GP who can do injectable treatments.
We do intend to bring in more specialists from overseas who have a particular speciality and for whom, foreign patients will follow to
get better prices.
Malta
