How
long
should
the
Scar
Treatment
be
continue?
Continue
the
process
of
applying
Centella
Scar
Cream
over
the
tape
twice
daily
until
scar
maturation
occurs.
This
manifests
as a
flattened,
white
scar.
As
individuals
have
varying
maturation
times,
one
should
continue
this
first
line
of
treatment
for 3
months
and
then
commence
the
SCAR
REPAIR
for
long-term
maintenance.

Remember
smoking
hinders
the
healing
process.
|
|
|
|
|
Can this regime be
applied to all
scars?
|
|
|
Sometimes, if left
untreated, one may
develop thickened,
red, inflamed, itchy,
keloid or unsightly
scars.
This very often
depends on the
location of the
scar.
RégimA
Centella
may be used on all new
incisional
scars.
It may take
approximately 6 to 12
months for a scar to
mature. The Centella
may be used on any
recent scar.
If a scar is more than
a few months old one
should commence the
SCAR REPAIR
instead.
However, a scar that
is itchy, painful,
raised etc, and even
if it is not a very
recent scar, may still
benefit from
the
RégimA
Centella and
tape.
If the scar is an old
scar, but is very
lumpy and unsightly it
may be necessary for
the doctor to excise
that scar and start
with the Centella on a
new scar.
This possibility
should be discussed
with a doctor who can
assess the scar and
whether it would be
possible to improve it
further.

POSSIBLE ADVERSE
EFFECTS
|
|
|
|
|
|
MicroporousTape
|
|
|
An allergic reaction
to the paper tape is a
very rare
occurrence.
This would manifest as
an itch and/or a skin
reaction.
If this occurs the
tape should be removed
immediately and a
physician
consulted.

SCAR REPAIR &
ANTI-STRETCH
COMPLEX
|
|
|
|
|
|
SCARS: As
indicated above, the
first line of
treatment for a scar
requiring stitches is
the CENTELLA SCAR
TREATMENT PROGRAMME.
However, there
are certain instances
where it is impossible
to apply continual
taping as with facial
scars. In such cases a
patient should use the
SCAR REPAIR. This is
also the maintenance
treatment for patients
who have used the
Centella & Tape
for approximately 3
months. This treatment
is recommended for any
trauma scar having not
required suturing, for
abrasions experienced
in road traffic
accidents etc.
This formulation is a
maintenance Scar
Treatment that has a
micro-molecular
structure, thus
rendering easier skin
penetration. It
is film forming and
corresponding to
natural collagen.
It provides
nourishment and
protection for the
newly developing
skin.
Continued use will
help in the prevention
of post inflammatory
hyper pigmentation -
the discoloration left
following skin trauma
The SCAR REPAIR
& ANTI-STRETCH is
the first line
treatment for the
repair and prevention
of stretch
marks.

Carl Burger's neck
was treated
by
Luke F Gordon MBChb
FCS(SA
) Plastic &
Reconstructive
Surgeon. It was an old
hypertrophic scar.
Half the scar was
treated with RégimA
Scar Repair Complex
with no taping. The
patient commenced the
cream on 23rd January
2001 and the
photograph below was
taken on the 6th March
2001.

Stretch marks are
fine scars caused
by tearing in the
dermis, the living
layer of skin.
The dermis is
where our skin
produces collagen and
elastin fibres, which
give it a firmer,
younger appearance.
The scars occur
when skin is stretched
to the point of
breakdown, like
elastic losing
elasticity, at which
point these tears
start to show through
the epidermis.
|
|
|
There are several
different factors why
these
occur:
|
|
|
-
Skin type-
Drier, less
elastic skin is
more prone
|
|
|
|
-
Heredity - Some
skin is
genetically prone
to stretch
marks
|
|
|
|
-
Weight - Rapid
gain or
loss
|
|
|
-
Pregnancy - Some
skins are more
susceptible than
others to stretch
marks but anyone
can get them. The
non-occurrence of
stretch marks
during one
pregnancy does not
necessarily mean
they will not
occur during
another
|
|
|
-
Puberty -
Stretching of skin
during rapid
weight gain or
rapid growth is a
major cause of
stretch
marks.
|
|
|
-
They are not
gender specific,
men can also get
them.
|
|
|
What can be
done?
|
|
|
We help regenerate new
skin cells and repair
the damaged scar
tissue by using
penetrating, active
ingredients whilst
helping to prevent any
further damage.It is
an effective repair
and preventative
treatment, however.
Obviously the oilier
or younger the skin,
the more elastic it is
and therefore the
skin’s response is
quicker because it
needs less elastin
proteins to repair it.
Therefore, the
drier and less elastic
skin will require more
long-term ANTI-STRETCH
treatment.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Will it prevent
stretch
marks?
|
|
|
Stretch marks cannot
be eliminated
completely.
However, they
can be made to look a
lot better and proper
early care lessens the
impact and helps
prevent further
damage. Our aim is to
deeply nourish the
skin, penetrating
through to the dermis,
healing, thickening
and re-elasticising
and therefore helping
prevent further
damage. The skin will
become stronger and
more elastic giving
one the ability to
stretch more without
damage
|
|
|
ANTI-STRETCH
penetrates through the
epidermis (outer horny
layer) down into the
dermis where it helps
repair the damaged
area, regenerating new
skin cells. It
is a 'prevention as
well as a treatment'.
The herbal
extracts work
synergistically,
fighting, healing, and
repairing. We
help to eliminate the
incessant itching
associated with
stretch mark
development, thus
helping in the
prevention
process.
|
|
|
2 to 3 months should
be allowed to see
improvement, this
varying again on the
age and elasticity
factors.

FOR SCARS:
To be massaged
into scarred area 2 to
4 times daily.

a sunscreen over to
help prevent
post-traumatic hyper
pigmentation.

This photograph shows
a 29 year old Asian
lady who had received
burns from an IPL hair
removal system.
Asian skins are
prone to dryness
around the cheeks and
under the neck,
causing the reaction
to the light system
after a patch test
showed no
reaction.
It was taken 24 hours
after the hair removal
treatment. The
area started to show
signs of burning 20
minutes after
treatment.
|
|
|
3 weeks after.
Using a
combination of RégimA
Laser gel to keep skin
moist, followed by
moisturisers,
hydration concentrates
and night products to
stop pigmentation and
scarring.
At 6 weeks, patient
skin was back to
normal with no
pigmentation.

|
|
This 2-year-old boy
presented with
scalding scars, which
were 6 months old.
The residual
scars were very red
and hypertrophic,
accompanied by pain
and itchiness.
|
|
|
When the child was
burnt initially, the
doctor applied
Flamazine and then
told the mother to
massage ‘tissue oil’
into the
scars.
After 6 months the
scar had not improved
at all and was in fact
deteriorating.
|
|
|
His mother was
instructed to apply
micro porous tape
firmly to the scarred
area and apply RégimA
Burn Repair Complex
over the top of the
tape 2 to 3 times
daily. The tape
was to remain in situ
until it lost adhesion
(approximately a week
at a time). The
area was then cleaned
and new tape applied
with the cream over.
By using this
method of the micro
porous tape and the
Burn Repair Complex,
it holds the scar
down; the cream
penetrates and is held
within the tape,
acting as a slow
release medicine to
the scar. The smaller
scars were treated
with Burn Repair
alone.
