Linda Briggs solutions for Thread Veins

Vitamin K products can be used to get rid of thread veins and help prevent new thread veins forming.   For more information on the products for thread veins, click here

Electrolysis carried out in beauty salons can be used to treat thread veins.   A fine needle is used to pass a current into the skin to cauterise the thread vein.

Veinwave is a treatment for red (spider) veins or thread veins on the legs or face. This thermo-coagulation technique is supposed to be a complete solution, totally safe and relatively painless with only minimal temporary bruising, producing immediate results with no side effects.

A fine needle is introduced over the vein and in most cases it disappears instantaneously without bruising. No bandaging is required.   Veinwave can be applied to any kind of skin complexion because there should be no loss of pigmentation.   It treats all spider or thread veins on the legs and the feet, as well as troublesome facial red thread veins.   Veinwave is suitable for both men and women.

Micro-sclerotherapy uses the tip of a beveled needle as fine as fuse wire.  It is introduced into the thread vein and a tiny drop of solution enters the capillary causing it to blanch and tingle for a second or two.

It then becomes redder temporarily as the lining of the thread vein is irritated.  After a while, it will either collapse or swell and stick together sealing off the vein, prohibiting any more blood to enter and therefore becoming invisible. Minute scabbing or slight discoloration at the site of the injections is temporary.  The areas may feel tender for the next few days following treatment.

The process can continue for several weeks, or even months after treatment.   The width of the broken thread vein will determine repeat treatments after six weeks.

This is very good for larger thread veins that will not respond well to creams or other treatments but should only be carried out by a nurse or surgeon.   Thread veins may appear at different sites if you are vulnerable to this condition and they can all be treated in the same way.

Use prevention products before and after treatments to ensure good results.

Intense Pulsed Light   is a new form of treatment that uses high intensity light therapy to eliminate spider or thread veins safely. The system emits brief flashes of intense pulsed light, similar to a camera flash, which destroys unsightly small thread veins so that they fade and disappear slowly. Treatment is applied by placing a hand-held unit on your skin.  The process is relatively painless, being described as a brief stinging sensation.

No anaesthesia or pain medication is required.  Short term side effects include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which disappears in a few days.  Several treatments may be required depending upon the severity and density of the vessels.  You can resume normal activities immediately following treatment.  IPL is usually successful, particularly satisfactory for facial thread veins, is safer than laser and does not cause scarring.  The paler the skin the more effective the treatment.
